HDMI, HDBaseT, and fiber extenders

An extender is a transmitter and receiver pair that carries one HDMI path past a practical copper HDMI run — rack to wall, lectern to projector, plant room to a monitoring wall.

Read the medium (Cat, HDBaseT, fiber, IP, wall plate, wireless, or KVM), the published distance at the listed resolution, HDMI/HDCP class, and whether IR, RS-232, or USB KVM is listed. Distance is model-specific. Do not mix a TX from one SKU with an RX from another.

Choose an extender when one source must reach one distant display past a practical copper HDMI run — a transmitter and receiver pair. A matrix routes many-to-many in the rack. A splitter copies one picture to many displays. A switcher selects sources for one local screen. An active optical cable is a single cable, not a TX/RX kit. A converter does not add distance.

WhatsApp MEGRA with the model code, client name, and location. Add the planned run length and whether you need wall plate, KVM, or fiber.

Use Cat or HDBaseT when the run is structured Cat cable and the model lists that class. Use fiber when the page lists an optical distance. Use a wall-plate kit when the TX or RX must sit in a wall box. Use KVM when keyboard and mouse must follow the picture. Stay inside the listed medium.
